An Environment Canada meteorologist has reported that there is a strong chance of higher than normal temperatures this summer (2015) across British Columbia due a trend of warmer water in the Pacific Ocean that influences weather in the Pacific Northwest. This prediction was made due to the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), an El Niño-like pattern of ocean-atmosphere climate variability affecting weather in the Pacific Ocean and subsequently the Pacific Northwest.
